Social Work Press is an open-access publisher that publishes peer-reviewed anthologies in the field of social work.

The publisher aims to contribute to an increase in the number of Swedish-language publications of high scholarly quality. Social Work Press follows international traditions of university-based publication series. The press is part of the School of Social Work at Lund University but welcomes editorship proposals from researchers at other institutions, subject to an assessment of thematic relevance and a commitment to a quality assurance process for planned anthologies.

Researchers from many different institutions and disciplines have contributed to the anthologies published by the press to date.

To ensure high scientific quality, a double-blind peer review process is used, in which the anthology’s editor has overall responsibility for the evaluation. In the first step, the editor reviews the submitted abstracts with regard to their scientific potential and relevance to the anthology’s overall theme. The chapter manuscripts are then sent to two independent expert reviewers with high scientific expertise in the relevant field. The reviewers’ assessments, together with the editor’s own reading and evaluation of the manuscript, form the basis for the decision on whether the chapter will be accepted for publication. An assessment of academic originality is included in the written evaluation. The editorial board ensures, through communications with the volume editor, that there are no conflicts of interest or dependencies between authors and reviewers.
